Treatment of Fecal Incontinence

Description The purpose of this study is to determine if a medical and behavioral treatment program for fecal incontinence needs any changes to make it more effective and easier to use. This treatment has already been used successfully in a previous NIH study.

Requirements
  • Age 18 or older, male or female
  • 2 visits to UNC and a 6-week treatment program at home
  • Seen by a doctor for fecal incontinence, defined as loss of liquid or solid stool or mucus at least one time per month
  • You should not be in this study if you only have urinary incontinence, but may participate if you have both fecal incontinence and urinary incontinence
Compensation We will provide any medications you may need.
