partial hospitalization, and
inpatient programs is the UNC
Neurosciences Hospital.

The
clinical programs of the University of North
Carolina's Department of Psychiatry are a
crucial part of our mission. Our goal
is to provide the clinical services necessary
to fulfill our educational and research missions.
We provide consultation to physicians and
patients throughout North Carolina and the
Southeast Region. We actively collaborate
with many UNC School of Medicine departments
in providing clinical services. We also
provide emergency services and inpatient care
to patients served by the Orange/Person/Chatham
community mental health system.
In
addition, our clinical research programs
offer many patients access to very specialized
care and treatments that are not widely
available. We serve a diverse group
of patients ranging from young children
to the elderly, most of whom suffer from
serious psychiatric illnesses.
