Talk Title: Mechanisms of co-translational protein sorting and targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum
Dr. Jomaa has a B. S. in Biology – Genetics from McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry also from McMaster University. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia – School of Medicine, Charlottesville, VA, and prior to that he was a Research Associate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. Dr. Jomaa’s research includes localization of nascent proteins to sub-cellular compartments and focuses on Quality Control of Protein Targeting to the Endoplasmic Reticulum and Protein Targeting and Import into Mitochondria.
