About

Anne Spain, MHL, RN, NE-BC, is the Associate Director for Surgery Services at the University of North Carolina Medical Center. In this role, she supports all aspects of Surgery Services and the current leadership team in the Division of Nursing. Anne was the Executive Sponsor for the C. Difficile Reduction Spread of Innovation 2020 Nurse Executive Project and recently led the Centralized Labor Pool created to assist with the Medical Center’s staffing needs during COVID-19.

Anne began her nursing career at UNC Health in 2005 in the Intermediate Surgical Care Unit. She served as a Clinical Nurse before transitioning to a Nurse Manager role in the North Carolina Neurosciences Hospital and then in the Nursing Staffing Office. She later moved into a UNC Health System role in IT, supporting staff schedule solutions.

Anne received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing degree from UNC Greensboro and Master of Health Leadership degree from Western Governors University.
