On May 4th, the Age-Based Genomic Screening Team did genetic educational outreach at the AKA Mental Health and Wellness Fair, hosted by the Omega Lambda Omega Chapter of the Sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. At this event we were excited to have the chance to talk to families in the Louisburg area and table alongside other vendors including those who were providing screenings (e.g. dental, blood pressure checks), general care (haircut) and food distribution. It was also amazing to learn about the perspectives of the community members on genetics and genetic screening as well as meeting community leaders.
