Ben is a second-year medical student at UNC School of medicine. Ben earned his BA in Neuroscience from Dartmouth in 2022. Prior to joining the lab, Ben completed an NIH summer internship at the NIEHS studying the CA2 region of the hippocampus. Ben has also volunteered as a research assistant at UNC for a clinical lab investigating the long-term physical and mental health outcomes of sexual assault in a cohort of sexual assault survivors. Ben has worked as an EMT in North Carolina, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Ben is currently a biocurator for the Clinical Genomic (ClinGen) Resource involved in curating gene-disease relationships for inborn errors of immunity and heritable thoracic aortic disease. He is involved in variant curation for severe combined immunodeficiencies. Ben is currently working on a project with GENYSIS examining the use of AI driven splicing software in the detection of new pathogenic variants as part of the Carolina Medical Student Research Program. Outside of the lab, Ben loves to play soccer, tennis, and frisbee golf, and is a big fan of the Detroit Lions.
