A new supplement to the Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS) project (PIs Drs. Milko and Berg) has been awarded to Grace Leon-Lozano, BS.

Grace has contributed to several projects since joining the Berg Lab and Genomic Medicine Research Group in 2022. Her roles include junior biocurator for ClinGen, research assistant for the Program for Precision Medicine and, currently, postbac research fellow in Dissemination and Implementation Science working with Laura Milko, PhD on the Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS) project.

A first-generation Miami native, Grace graduated from Florida International University in 2020, with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Psychology. Her interdisciplinary focus, strong interest in genetic-based approaches for precision public health, and experience as a bilingual STEM educator and translator of complex medical information for the Spanish-speaking community uniquely position her to help the ABGS program address the linguistic and cultural barriers faced by underserved communities in accessing critical health information. Grace is currently exploring multiple research interests and considering her next steps in career and postgraduate education.
