United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) is an international meeting of gastroenterologists held in Europe. It is a similar conference to Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in the United States. This year, the meeting was held in Vienna, Austria on Ocyober 20 – 23, 2014. There were 12,800+ attendees, 3,500+ abstracts submitted from countries all over the world, and only 466 invited lectures. Drs. Whitehead and Palsson were one of the few selected to give an invited lecture, which is a great accomplishment for themselves and for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
