Dear UNC SOM Faculty,

UNC SOM will be hosting its annual virtual mock interviews for students applying for Residency Match 2025. This event has received incredibly positive feedback from students in the past and we need your help to make it successful again this year. THIS IS FOR FACULTY ONLY; PLEASE NO STUDENTS, TRAINEES, ADMINISTRATORS, ETC.

The mock interviews will be virtual. We are conducting interviews between September 9 – October 25, 2024. Here is how to sign-up and additional details about the event:

  1. Please sign-up for time slots using this link: CLICK HERE. We ask that you fill in your availability at the latest by Friday, August 2, 2024.
  2. Please sign-up for as many time slots as you can fully commit to (block off now on your calendar as the schedule will not be finalized until the first week of September). Of note, not every date and time slot will be filled by student interviewees, but we will match students as closely as possible to available faculty. However, if you sign up for 20 slots, there is a chance you will be assigned for 20 interviews. Please only sign up for times you are 100% available.
  3. The interview blocks are 2 hours each (4 possible interviews). Each interview will run 30 minutes: 20-minutes for the interview, 3-5 minutes of in-person feedback, and then 3-5 minutes to fill out the electronic evaluation form to submit after the interview. The link for potential interview questions: Common residency interview questions.
    The evaluation link is https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9tapWUM59FGryL4
  4. The students are responsible for sending you an Outlook calendar invite for the date and time slot, their zoom link, CV and specialty choice. You will be sent a list of your interviews no later than 1 week before they are scheduled. Also include will the evaluation form and a link to common interview questions.

WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH for supporting our students in this important (and fun!) endeavor.  For additional questions, please contact Rebecca Matthews rebecca_matthews@med.unc.edu or Tracy DeSelm tracy_deselm@med.unc.edu.
