Cherie Somera is a member of the inpatient Diabetes Care Team within the Division of Endocrinology at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Her present focus involves the management of hyperglycemia and prevention of hypoglycemia within the inpatient setting amongst several different inpatient services through consults and follow-up. She couples the implementation of evidence-based care with quality improvement initiatives centered on improving patient outcomes, striving to provide person-centered care for all her patients. She prioritizes patient interactions and strongly values partnering with patients in their plans of care. Cherie is aspiring toward further involvement in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to better serve those experiencing hyper- or hypoglycemia, regardless of diabetes diagnosis. She is a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), American Nurses Association (ANA), and American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
