Dr. Crystal Wiley Cené, UNC Health System Executive Director for Health Equity and Associate Professor in the Division of General Medicine & Clinical Epidemiology, and Dr. Seth A. Berkowitz, Assistant Professor in the Division of General Medicine & Clinical Epidemiology, will discuss the role that social conditions and public policy can help improve health outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and health equity in the long-term. The will describe racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in COVID-19 outcomes, discuss frameworks that can be used to study and understand how social factors such as racism and economic conditions affect health, and detail how particular policies can improve both COVID-19 outcomes and health equity
