- Saira Sheikh, MD, and Nigel Key, MD, ChB, CRCP, with local biotech company EpiCypher, have received a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases grant to develop and commercialize a novel blood-based assay that can be used to study and diagnose a range of diseases, from rheumatoid arthritis and lupus to cancer-associated venous thromboembolism.The total award to EpiCypher® is $3m over three years, with just under a $1m sub-award to UNC.
