  • Lisa Carey, MD, will receive $400,000 from Susan G. Komen to study how HER2+ tumors respond to HER2-targeted therapies. She is one of three UNC School of Medicine researchers to receive funding which include Charles Perou, PhD, and Hector Franco, PhD. Learn more.

Division of Infectious Diseases

  • UNC’s Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases (IGHID) has been awarded a 5-year contract to house the North Carolina HIV Training & Education Center (NCHTEC) through 2024. The team includes Christopher Hurt, MD, Cassandra Durham, MA/MS, and Ben Clack. Learn more.
  • The IGHID has been awarded a three-year, $3M grant to launch a large epidemiological study led by David Margolis, MD of Lassa fever in Liberia by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).

Division of Pulmonary Diseases & Critical Care Medicine

  • Jennifer Goralski, MD received a Clinical Research Scholars Program grant through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Development Network. Learn more.
