WNCT (Greenville) reports vaccinations are starting across North Carolina, with CarolinaEast Health System in New Bern giving medical workers the first shots in the Greenville region. But the report also recognizes that there are many people who don’t feel comfortable getting the vaccine and introduces a group in the east using virtual connections to answer questions and ease concerns, especially in the Black and Brown communities.

“I think that’s coming from a long-standing history of historical mistreatment of Blacks and other people of color,” said Crystal Cené, MD, executive director for Health Equity for the UNC Health System, and associate professor in the division of general medicine and clinical epidemiology.
