What is your clinical expertise?

I specialize in HIV and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) care and prevention; HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP); and linkage and retention in care.

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

I see people living with HIV and people at high risk for becoming infected with HIV, including the transgender population, two days a week off campus. I am a medical epidemiologist and consultant for special projects with the NC Department of Health and Human Services HIV/STD care branch. I attend 4-6 weeks on MedK. I am the Medical Director for UNC’s annual HIV conference hosted here in Chapel Hill, which draws around 400 providers from across the state. I just recently served as the Medical Director for the inaugural Injecting Drug User Health summit, which was hosted by the Mountain Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in Asheville.

What current project or initiative at UNC are you involved in that you are excited about?

I really enjoy the PrEP clinic I have been developing as part of my state work in Raleigh.

What is your hometown?

Chesterton, IN
