What is your clinical expertise?

My clinical expertise is the diagnosis of thoracic malignancy as well as airway and pleural intervention for diagnosis, treatment and palliation.

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

My current role in the DOM is to build a world class Interventional Pulmonology program by which we will provide cutting edge care to patients with malignant and benign causes of airway disease while teaching the next generation of physicians. We also use this platform to continue to advance the field through cutting edge multidisciplinary research.

I am especially excited about CarolinaValue as it looks to more closely knit the UNC Health Care system together which will allow us to bring cutting edge treatments and technologies to the entirety of the state of North Carolina.

Where is an interesting place you have traveled?

I traveled to Afghanistan in 1998 on a medical mission aimed at bringing medicine and medical books to war-torn Kabul University and Hospital.
