Sue Kirkman, MD, talked to Livestrong.com about prediabetes and what most people should know about the condition.
The article explains prediabetes as a condition that occurs when blood sugar levels are high, but not high enough to be considered type 2 diabetes.
“It’s sort of an in-between condition,” says Kirkman in the article. “It’s considered a precursor to type 2 diabetes.”
Kirkman is professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology and metabolism, and medical director of the UNC Diabetes Care Center’s Clinical Trials Unit.
