What is your clinical expertise?
I specialize in the treatment of all types of diabetes in adults.
Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.
As a clinician I help patients with diabetes live happier healthier lives. As a clinical researcher I am involved in a broad spectrum of diabetes focused projects. I am currently the PI of a PCORI funded trial examining the role of glucose monitoring in patients with non insulin treated diabetes. One of my favorite ongoing studies is a collaboration between the School of Medicine and the English Department. We are examining the impact of creative writing on disease management and quality of life in patients with diabetes.
When I am not seeing patients or working on my research projects I can be found working with medical students as a college advisor and Patient Centered Care Tutor.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Outside of work I enjoy gardening, raising backyard chickens, taking long walks, cooking and spending time with my daughter.
