Dougald Monroe, PhD, professor of medicine in hematology and member of the UNC Blood Research Center is an investigator for a new grant from the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

The R01 grant “An integrated computational and experimental approach to understanding the hemostatic response during treatment of bleeding” was awarded four years of funding. Studies will create better mathematical models that can guide the development of new therapeutics for bleeding.

The principal investigator is Karin Leiderman, PhD, at Colorado School of Mines. Other collaborators include Aaron Fogelson, PhD, University of Utah, and Keith Neeves, University of Colorado in Denver.
