Heart disease, a term used to describe several different types of heart conditions, is not only common, but incredibly fatal. An article in Eat This, Not That features Ross Simpson, MD, PhD, professor of medicine in the division of cardiology.

“Chest pain is the most common and important symptom related to a heart problem,” explained Simpson.  “This symptom is often described as a tightness in the chest, or a fullness in the chest,” he said. “Only rarely is the chest pain sharp like a knife.”
