What is your clinical expertise?

I am a Clinical Immunologist with certifications in Allergy Immunology and Rheumatology. My clinical expertise is in Humoral Immunodeficiencies including Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disease (CVID) and multiple autoimmune disorders including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogren’s syndrome.

 

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

I am a tenured physician scientist in the Department of Medicine. I supervise and train research undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post-doctoral clinical and research fellows in autoimmunity and immunodeficiency.

 

What current project or initiative at UNC are you involved in that you are excited about?

Our research group has several exciting projects with collaborators in and outside of UNC. We are examining a genetic hotspot region for autoimmunity and immunodeficiency in CVID patients with physician scientists from Duke. We are also working with UNC collaborators in Pharmacology and Pharmacy on developing exciting new drug delivery systems and drug targets for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
