The numbers of new COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions keep climbing. That raises a critical question — when will they finally peak? CBS-17 interviewed David Wohl, MD, to learn more.

“Under the current circumstances, unless there was a dramatic change, we’re talking about a peak in late October, early November,” said Wohl, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases.

“I think it’s important for people to know that it’s not just us watching the skies for a change in the weather. We can predict pretty reasonably what might happen based on what we’ve seen before and the data we have available that shows us how the virus is spreading.”

Wohl also said he expects the numbers to “start approaching what we saw during the winter.”
