About

Beyla grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and attended UNC for college where she majored in Exercise and Sport Science. While at UNC for college, Beyla was the Captain of the UNC Indian Dance Team. She enjoys mentoring and worked as an Assistant Coach for a youth girls’ soccer team through the YMCA. As a medical student, Beyla completed the MPH program and focused her research on studying HIV screening in outpatient clinics. She has been active in the school of medicine student government, serving as the Application Phase Chief Advocate and senior Vice President for Educational Development. With an interest in teaching, she also participated in the Medical Education Scholarly Concentration program. She continues as a volunteer coordinator and STI counselor for the SHAC free clinic as well as the Durham Rescue Mission and Table Inc. In her free time, Beyla enjoys dance, pickleball, and ceramics.
