About

Cheng attended Emory for college where he majored in Biology. While in college, he began working as a research associate with the Grady Trauma Project, investigating posttraumatic stress disorder in a crosssectional analysis of low socioeconomic patients in Atlanta. He also served as a mentor with the Emory Pipeline Program. As a medical student, he has continued to work to care for the underserved, serving as the head clinic coordinator for the 8th Street Clinic in Augusta. His research has focused on AI as well as a study looking at gender bias among YouTube videos concerning prevalent ophthalmic conditions. In his free time, Cheng enjoys photography, art, and computer building in addition to cooking. After his preliminary year, Cheng will be staying at UNC for his Ophthalmology residency.
