Christie Schmidt, MD
About
Christie grew up outside of Richmond, Virginia in a big family with horses, cats, dogs, and pigs! She graduated from UVA with degrees in Biology and Psychology and worked for a year as a Medical Assistant and Scribe for an ENT practice in Richmond. As a medical student, Christie has been interested in global health and care of the underserved. She served on the Board of Directors and as Director of Patient Continuity for the HOPES free clinic, represented her school’s AMWA chapter as the Global Health Chair and coordinated a two-part series focused on human trafficking, and worked on research focused on potential health inequities between Spanish-speaking and English-speaking uninsured patients who are seen in free clinics. In recognition of her outstanding leadership and academic performance, Christie was inducted into the AOA Honor Society. In her free time, she enjoys baking, houseplants, and crochet and needle point!
