About

Dhruv attended the University of Connecticut for college where he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and English and competed as part of the competitive Bhangra dance team. After college, Dhruv was a Fulbright Scholar in India where he worked as an English teaching fellow for an underserved high school. Dhruv has been actively involved in research, service, and multiple leadership roles at the University of Maryland. He founded the UM Ophthalmology Medical Education Innovation Team, led the Ophthalmology student interest group, was president for the Student Sight Savers Project, and a class officer for the student government to name just a few. He has a strong interest in social justice and advocacy and published an analysis of the impact of COVID-19 on India as a Global Health Scholar at UM. In recognition of his outstanding academic performance and commitment to patients and peers, he was inducted into both the AOA and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. Dhruv enjoys dance, reading, poetry and blogging. He will be staying at UNC for his Ophthalmology residency after completion of his preliminary year in medicine.
