About

Emily is from Raleigh, North Carolina and attended UNC for college where she graduated with a major in Chemistry and minors in Neuroscience and Spanish for the Health Professions. After college, she worked as a medical assistant for a Dermatology practice in Raleigh, increasing her interest in Dermatology. She is committed to caring for the underserved and has worked for three years as the coexecutive Director for the Pitt County Care clinic and is obtaining a graduate certificate in Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities as a student in the Service Learning Distinction Track. She founded the Pitt County Care Dermatology Clinic, the Medicine Spanish student interest group at ECU, and continues to work as a peer tutor and mentor. In recognition of her outstanding academic performance and commitment to her peers and patients, Emily was inducted into both the AOA and Gold Humanism honor societies.
