About

Kayla is originally from Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Biology and later an MS in physiology and biophysics.  After college, she worked as a research assistant with the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Center and also taught anatomy and physiology as an adjunct faculty member at the area community college.  She has been an active member of her medical school’s SNMA chapter and has served in multiple mentor and advocacy roles, including work with the Second Chance Program for incarcerated African American men and women to mentor them in their pursuit of completing academic degrees.
