Samuel Raines, MD

About

Sam is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and began working with the UNC HIV cure center after graduating from UNC. Sam’s work has included research focused on caring for patients with HIV as well as work with the UNC Care Community Advisory Board, an NIH funded group that serves to support people living with HIV in the community. His research work with the UNC HIV Cure Center involved multiple projects in translational HIV research centered around latency reversal agents, resulting in a first authored manuscript that was recently submitted. In recognition of his outstanding research efforts, Sam was inducted into the Graham Research Society. He continues to volunteer with SHAC, has broadened his research to include more recent work with Cardiology, and serves as an executive board member with the UNC SNMA. In his free time, Sam is a member of the NC Fossil Club and spends time with his fiancée, a PhD candidate at Duke.
