About

Tika is from Washington and attended Linfield University in Oregon where she majored in Biology. After college, she worked for two years as an Ophthalmic Technician for a practice in Carrboro prior to medical school. She has been actively involved in research, service, and advocacy as a medical student, including working as a certified Spanish Interpreter and serving as the President of the UNC Farmworker student health alliance. With an interest in medical education and mentoring, she has served as a workshop leader for incoming medical students and an advisory college advocate. She was selected as a Howard Holderness Distinguished Medical Scholar and participated in research focused on the retinopathy of prematurity. In her free time, Tika enjoys Geography and running. She will be staying at UNC for her residency in Ophthalmology after completion of her preliminary year.
