Prior to completing her Ph.D. at UC Davis, Dr. De Paris was a Research Immunologist then a Staff Scientist in the California National Primate Research Center (CNPRC) at UC Davis. After completing her Ph.D. she worked at an Assistant Adjunct Professor at UC Davis. In 2009, Dr. De Paris relocated to UNC-Chapel Hill where she is now a Professor and the Associate Director of the HIV/STD Laboratory Core in the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).
