Philip J. Bassford Memorial Lecture presented by Joanne Engel, MD/Ph.D, “Chlamydia is a master cell biologist: the secret lives of intracellular pathogens”

The Philip J. Bassford Memorial Lecture is a student-run event with the primary purpose of facilitating interactions between a distinguished scientist and graduate students. Philip J. Bassford was a respected scientist in the field of E. coli protein secretion, a vital member of our department, and a committed mentor to graduate students. Following his death in 1991, the Department of Microbiology and Immunology created the Philip J. Bassford Memorial Fund, which funds the student-driven Bassford Memorial Lecture.
