UNC Neurology is please to announce the promotion of Dr. Winnie Lau from Clinical Assistant Professor to Clinical Associate Professor based on excellence in clinical activity.

Dr. Lau is a member of the Neurocritical Care Division in Neurology and is joint appointed in the UNC Neurosurgery Department. Dr. Lau acts as the Program Director for the Adult Neurology Residency Program. Her areas of interest include stoke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and family communications.

Dr. Lau received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Louis University, School of Medicine in 2012. She completed her internship at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in 2013 and her Residency in Adult Neurology at Stanford University, School of Medicine in 2016. Following her Residency, Dr. Lau completed a Fellowship in Neurocritical Care at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, School of Medicine in 2018. After her fellowship, Dr. Lau joined the UNC School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
