I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine . I am a clinician-researcher with an interest in leveraging the unique setting in which emergency medical care is provided to augment appropriate medication use and intervene to deprescribe potentially harmful medications among older adults. I am a member of the US Deprescribing Research Network as a Junior Investigator. I have received funding from the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine to examine the impact of using albuterol to treat undifferentiated dyspnea in patients with co-occurring heart failure and obstructive pulmonary disease. Further, I serve as a Site PI on a NIDA-funded trial entitled, “Pragmatic Trial of User-centered Clinical Decision Support to Implement EMergency Department-initiated BuprenorphinE for Opioid Use Disorder.” The study seeks to understand how the integration of a clinical decision support instrument into the electronic health record can help clinicians initiate suboxone treatment for opioid use disorder in the emergency department. Through this work, I have gained insight on how to optimize the electronic health record to increase adherence to evidence-based practice for opioid use disorder.
