September 18th to 24th is National Eye Health Week! Each year, the ocular care community encourages all individuals to start young in adopting healthy lifelong practices to reduce one’s odds of developing eye disease that can lead to worsening or complete loss of vision.

The American Association of Ophthalmology (AAO) has designated September as Healthy Aging Month and emphasizes good eye health as an essential part of healthy living. This month, the AAO outlines a multitude of preventive practices that adults can adopt to slow onset of declining vision and and prevent ocular disease.

By age 40, all asymptomatic adults should have an eye specialist conduct an comprehensive eye exam. Whether it’s your first baseline screening, or that follow-up exam to address screening and diagnostic results, contact UNC Kittner Eye Center at 984-974-2020 to schedule your eye exam today!
