Joshua Dowd, MD

I’m the Medical Director of Community-based Palliative Care at Transitions LifeCare and am thrilled to be our organization’s fellowship education director as part of UNC’s Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship. Our robust community-based palliative care experience is something very unique about our program, so I’m always excited to share that with our fellows! I live in Durham with my wife Lindsay, our two daughters Olivia (4) and Luna (2), and our miniature schnauzer Ringo. Outside of work, I love exploring craft beer, homebrewing, listening to and studying hip hop, cooking, reading, doing Peloton work outs, stressing out over my hometown Boston professional sports teams and University of Michigan collegiate teams, and going on local adventures with our family.
