UNC Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program Equity and Inclusion Statement

The UNC Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program, in partnership with Transitions LifeCare, is committed to ensuring that our program is an equitable, inclusive and welcoming community. Equity and inclusion are vitally important to our work in ensuring that all seriously ill patients receive equal access to quality symptom management and goal-concordant care.

We welcome, value and learn from individual differences and perspectives. These include but are not limited to: cultural and racial/ethnic background; country of origin; gender; age; socioeconomic status; physical appearance; religion; and sexual identity.

We are committed to expanding equity and inclusiveness in our program. We measure equity and inclusion not only in numbers, but also by the extent to which our fellows and interprofessional team members experience the program’s environment as welcoming, valuing all individuals in our shared work in the fields of hospice and palliative care.
