Law Promoted to Professor of Pediatrics

Jennifer Law, MD was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics effective February 1, 2023. Dr. Law has been a faculty member in Pediatric Endocrinology since 2013. Dr. Law is a pediatric endocrinologist whose research interests focus on clinical management and comorbidities of type 1 diabetes and Turner syndrome.

Perry Promoted to Professor of Pediatrics

Martha Perry, MD was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics effective February 1, 2023. Dr. Perry has been a faculty member in General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine since 2017. She is the Director of Outpatient Quality and Safety for UNC Children’s Hospital where she identifies and prioritizes strategic enhancements to outpatient quality and safety.

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Michael Adams, MD

February 1, 2023

Michael Adams joined the Division of Genetics and Metabolism as a Clinical Instructor on February 1, 2023. Dr. Adams earned a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University in 2010 and his MD with us at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in 2019, followed by a Clinical Genetics Fellowship with the Pediatric Division of Genetics and Metabolism at UNC in 2021. He has been maintaining his clinical skills with us in Pediatrics while doing post-doctoral work with the Carolina Health Informatics Program at UNC since 2021. Congratulations Michael!

Kim Elected as AAAAI Food Allergy Secretary

Congratulations to Dr. Edwin Kim on his election as Food Allergy & Eosinophilic Disorders (FAED) Interest Section Secretary in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI). Interest Section Secretaries are responsible for a number of important tasks within the AAAAI. This position ultimately ascends to Interest Section Chair, and is a six-year leadership commitment. All interest section leaders actively participate in the Annual Meeting programming development process and the abstract review process.

The AAAAI is the leading membership organization of more than 7,000 allergists / immunologists (in the United States, Canada and 72 other countries) and patients’ trusted resource for allergies, asthma and immune deficiency disorders. This membership includes allergist / immunologists, other medical specialists, allied health and related healthcare professionals—all with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases.

Ian Davis Awarded $1 Million by V Foundation

The V Foundation Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board has awarded funding to Ian Davis, MD, PhD, the G. Denman Hammond Professor of Childhood Cancer in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and a UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center member, for his research project, “Novel mechanisms to improve CAR-T cell therapy for pediatric solid tumors”. The award is being funded by the Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund. The award amount will total $1,000,000, over the next 5 years.

Welcome New Clinical Provider: Kristen Brandt, MSN, NNP

Kristen Brandt joined Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on January 9, 2023. Ms. Brandt received her BSN and MSN/NNP at the University of Texas after first earning a BS in Psychology at Texas A & M University. She joins our team with 17 years of experience working as a neonatal nurse practitioner in Level 2/3 NICUs in Texas.  Welcome Kristen!
