Welcome New Clinical Provider: Jenny Miedema, RN, CPNP-PC, NNP-BC

February 1, 2022

Jenny Miedema joined the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on February 1, 2022. Ms. Miedema received her BA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2001 and her MSN form the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2005. She completed her training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Duke University in 2010 where she continued to work in NICU through 2017. Jenny will be working in the UNC Newborn Critical Care Center on a part-time basis.  Welcome Jenny![

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Elizabeth Jalazo, MD

Dr. Elizabeth Jalazo joined the Division of Genetics & Metabolism as faculty on January 3, 2022. Dr. Jalazo received her BS in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005 and her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Jalazo completed her pediatric residency at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in 2014 and a fellowship in Academic Pediatrics in 2015. In 2021, she completed her fellowship in Medical Genetics at UNC Chapel Hill. Welcome Liz!

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Maria Boucher, MD

January 1, 2022

Dr. Boucher joined the Division of Hematology/Oncology on January 1, 2022.  She received her from BS Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 2006 and her medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico in 2010. In 2013, she completed her pediatric residency at Tufts Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA and her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology was completed at UNC Chapel Hill in 2016. Dr. Boucher has since been an Assistant Professor at the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.  Welcome back Maria!

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Lindsay Marszal, MD, MPH

December 1, 2021

Dr. Marszal joined the Division of General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine as faculty on December 1, 2021. She received her BS in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL in 2009 and her medical degree from George Washington University in 2016. She also holds a MA in Medical Science from Boston University School of Medicine awarded in 2012. Dr. Marszal completed her pediatric residency at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in 2019. She has recently completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.  Welcome Lindsay!

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Misty Good, MD, MS, FAAP

November 30, 2021

Misty Good, MD, MS, FAAP joined the department as the new Division Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Good joined us on November 30, 2021.  She comes to us from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California before pursuing a combined MD/MS program at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles. After completing her medical and graduate degrees, she completed her residency and a year as Chief Resident at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Dr. Good completed her Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship training, at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2011. Welcome Misty!

Welcome New Clinical Provider: Taylor Murphy MSN, FNP BC, CDE

Taylor Murphy joined Pediatric Endocrinology on November 29th. Ms. Murphy received her BSN from Duke University in 2010 and went on to complete her MSN at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing in 2015. Since 2017, she has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Mount Sinai Hospital Hall Center for Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes in New York.  Welcome Taylor!

Welcome New Assoc. Chair for Administration: Jack D. Curran, MHA

November 15, 2021

Jack Curran joined the Department of Pediatrics as the Associate Chair for Administration on November 15, 2021. Jack Curran received his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the Washington University School of Medical in St. Louis, Missouri.  From 2016, he has been an Administrative Director for the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospitals. We are excited to welcome Jack to UNC!
