Ajay Gulati, MD, Division of Gastroenterology, was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics as of June 1, 2021. Dr. Gulati is a long-standing researcher in the UNC Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD).

Mills Named Pediatrics Director of Medical Student Education

Welcome New Provider: Renee A. Ducatte, BSN, RN, CCRN

Renee Ducatte joined the Department of Pediatrics on May 17th as an APP in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Ms. Ducatte completed her BSN at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2016 and went on to completed her MSN at the Duke University School of Nursing in 2020. Beginning in 2016, she worked for 2 years as a nurse in the PICU at Duke University and then in the Cardio Vascular Intensive Care Unit at Levine Children’s Hospital, in Charlotte

Welcome New Researcher: Jaydeep Sinha, M.Pharm, PhD

Dr. Sinha joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on May 1st. Dr. Sinha completed his PhD in Pharmacometrics in 2019 from the Univeristy of Otago School of Pharmacy in Dunedin, New Zealand. Beginning in 2019 he has been a Post Doctoral researcher in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at UNC.

UNC Health Experts: New Illness in Children Likely a Reaction to COVID-19

As medical experts continue to learn more about the coronavirus, they’re studying its effects on children. While the illness typically produces weaker symptoms compared to older patients, it’s believed the virus is causing a new reaction in some kids. Dr. Eveline Wu works for UNC Health as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology. She says while there have been many children who have tested positive for COVID-19, only three have been hospitalized at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill from the virus.
