The 3rd Annual Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium Postdoctoral Research Poster Forum was held Friday, April 19 with 44 university postdoctoral fellows who gathered to present their research findings. The forum provides an opportunity for fellows to hear inspiring stories presented by previous Nobel Prize winners, and to highlight their current research. The poster presentations followed the keynote speech by Dr. Harold E. Varmus, Director of the National Cancer Institute and 1989 winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
The two other winners were, first place: Manish Sethi (Radiation Oncology) placed first for his research poster entitled “Nanoparticle Chemosensitization;” and third place: Zongdi Feng (Lineberger Cancer Center) for his research poster entitled “Membrane Hijacking: Acquisition of an Envelope by a Pathogenic Picornavirus.”
