All about Dr Lystad!

Heather is originally from Orange County, California, and attended the University of Notre Dame where she received a BS in Neuroscience with a minor in Anthropology. During undergrad, she played club soccer, worked for the ND Football recruiting office, and studied abroad in Perth, Australia. After college, she became a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math and science teacher in Oklahoma for 2 years while earning her M.Ed. The students gave her quite a run for her money in the classroom, though she returned the favor at after-school soccer practice. She remains very proud of her former students’ continued accomplishments. After volunteering in local free medical clinics in OKC, she decided to pursue medicine. Heather spent her medical school years providing care to underserved patients in the UCSD Free Clinic, mentoring undergraduate and younger medical students, and filling her camera roll with sunset photos. Beyond medicine, she enjoys going on jog-walks with her husband, practicing yoga, starting DIY projects, tending to her plants, and watching Notre Dame football not lose big games.
