Karen Lamont, vice president, Kalos Golf in Chapel Hill, golf tour operator offering golf cruises and private jet tours around the world, recently joined the Center’s advisory board.Karen Lamont (final with edits)

Karen and her husband Jim moved to North Carolina in 1983; they have three children, one of whom has special needs and resides at home. She received a BA in psychology from McDaniel College.

A community leader, she was extensively involved with the launch of the Trinity School, served as co-chair of the Young Life Durham/Chapel Hill Committee and is a former member of the Learning Ally Board. She was also involved with starting All Saints Church in Durham/Chapel Hill. Lamont serves on the UNC Medicine Campaign Steering Committee.

She says her interest in supporting the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health is based on the Center’s care and provision of recovery services for her adult son with special needs.

“We are very honored to have Karen join our advisory board. She brings tremendous community service and fundraising experience to our group,” says John Gilmore, MD, the Center’s director.

Board members serve as advocates for Center programs, assist in increasing their visibility, and support the Center’s fundraising efforts.
