Summary Statement

Samantha Garcia Cruz is an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator in the Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program (CHAAMP) at UNC Chapel Hill. Before her time at CHAAMP, she worked at UT Austin as a Research Associate collecting data for a culturally relevant intervention for Latinx families with children with asthma.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with two minors in Education and Latinx studies, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Samantha’s primary research interests are working with bilingual, Latine families, and child victims of sexual and physical abuse. Making research culturally relevant, understandable, and community-based (specifically with Latine populations) is at the forefront of her interests. She hopes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis on forensics and child development to provide services and conduct research with disadvantaged bilingual families.

Outside of her academic pursuits, Samantha enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with her friends, family, and her two furbabies: Kyoshi and Claire.
