UNC School of Medicine and the Department of Radiation Oncology are pleased to announce that the new RadOnc chair is Dr. Jean Wright, currently Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Johns Hopkins University Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences. At JHU, Dr. Wright serves as Director of the Breast Cancer Program and Director of Safety and Quality. She specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and thoracic malignancies, and her research areas include the management of locally advanced breast cancer, the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and prognosis and survival assessment.

Dr. Wright received her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Before joining JHU, she was Associate Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Wright will begin her tenure at UNC in August of 2024. Dr. Ellen Jones will continue as Interim Chair until then.
