May 18, 2011 — William Adamson, MD, has been named Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery.

Dr. Adamson, who was recently promoted to Associate Professor, has served as interim Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery since November of 2009. He received his medical degree from Duke University and completed his residency training in general surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following a pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he was appointed to a faculty position at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He joined the University of North Carolina Department of Surgery in 2004.

As Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery, he will also serve as Surgeon-in-Chief of the North Carolina Children’s Hospital.
