The UNC Department of Urology is proud to highlight the contributions of one of our esteemed faculty members, David Friedlander, MD, MPH. Dr. Friedlander recently co-authored a new American Urological Association resource titled “Healthcare Performance Measurement: A Primer for Urologists.”

The Primer, tailored specifically for urologists, delves into the intricacies of healthcare performance measurement, encompassing its types, development process, challenges, preferred measures, and future directions. Throughout, it underscores the importance of reliable and valid measures in improving healthcare quality and outcomes.

Dr. Friedlander is a member of the American Urological Association’s (AUA) Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Committee and collaborated closely with Karen Johnson, PhD, the AUA’s Director of Quality & Measurement, and Gregory Auffenberg, MD, MS, the AUA QIPS Committee Chair on this effort.
